Fulford Home Remodeling was contacted by the Lunan family who were looking for ideas on expanding their existing family room, and also on how to bring natural light into the now dark area. A design was agreed upon, which involved a 270 sq. ft. addition/extension onto the rear of their existing family room. Demolition plans were extensive, which included removal and disposal of the exterior deck, a 26” wide section of rear bearing wall, a masonry fireplace, and the entire roof system/trusses over the family room and kitchen areas. New features included a cathedral style roof system, a custom rear window wall with Simonton energy efficient windows, a direct vent gas fireplace, a zoned HVAC system, hardwood flooring, an EIFS stucco-type exterior wall finish, and a Trex deck system. This dramatic renovation greatly increased both the livability and value of this Shiloh, Illinois home, which won first place in the 2004 HBA Remodelors of Distinction Awards.
